Extending Recognizable Properties Into New Product Experiences
I have developed product, packaging, and visual concepts for licensed entertainment properties including Jurassic Park, Pokémon, Scooby-Doo, and WWE. Each project required balancing the established identity of the property with the personality and functional needs of a new product.
Role: Senior Designer and
Brand Designer
Scope:
Licensed-product design, packaging, visual development, brand adaptation, concept presentation, mockups and production-ready artwork
The Challenge
Licensed properties come with highly recognizable visual languages and established audience expectations. New products must feel authentic to the original property while still presenting a fresh idea, communicating product features, and standing apart at retail.
The Approach
I began by identifying the essential visual characteristics of each property—color, typography, imagery, tone, and audience expectations. Those elements were then translated into product-specific packaging and visual systems without losing the identity that made the original brand recognizable.
Concepts were developed through sketches, layouts, mockups, 3D presentations, and packaging studies. Each stage helped stakeholders evaluate how the licensed property and the new product could work together
as a cohesive experience.
Applications
Jurassic Park Dino Battlers
Pokémon and Zhu Zhu Pets concepts
Scooby-Doo and Cats vs Pickles products
WWE Rumble concepts
Licensed-product packaging
Product and character presentation graphics
Retail-ready visual systems
Concept mockups and production artwork
The Outcome
The work demonstrates an ability to design within established brand systems while creating distinct product experiences. It also required close attention to visual consistency, audience recognition, production requirements, and the details that allow licensed properties to remain authentic across new applications.
